Sensex closes at record high of 52,232, Nifty ends near 15,700; Titan surges 7%
Bengal Mirror, June 3,2021: Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 ended at a fresh high on Thursday. Strong buying interest was seen in financial and real estate stocks. Selling pressure witnessed in select pharma stocks. Titan was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 7 per cent. ONGC, Larsen, Bajaj Finance, and Kotak Mahindra were among the other top Sensex gainers, while IndusInd Bank, Power Grid Corp, Bajaj Auto, Dr Redyy’s Labs and M&M were laggards. Wipro became the third IT firm to hit a Rs 3 trillion market cap. RIL’s market cap increased by 15 per cent over 7 days. All eyes are now on the Reserve Bank India’s monetary policy committee’s decision awaited tomorrow. Earlier in Asian Indices, South Korea’s Kospi increased by 0.72 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.39 per cent. China’s Shanghai Composite declined by 0.36 per cent.



Market Overview
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 0.74 and 0.73 per cent respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed above the 52,200 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 15,690 mark. The Sensex gained 383 points to trade at 52,232 and the Nifty50 rose by 114 points to trade at 15,690.
Nifty50 Index
In the 50-share pack of Nifty50, Titan Company Limited was the biggest gainer, increased by 6.65 per cent. ONGC, Axis Bank, Larsen, Eicher Motors, Kotak Mahindra and Adani Ports were among other gainers. On the other hand, IndusInd Bank was the worst performer in the pack, down by 2.16 per cent. Wipro, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Bajaj Auto, M&M and PowerGrid Corp were the other worst performers in the pack.
Small-cap and Mid-cap Indices
The Nifty Midcap-100 index surged 0.94 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index rose 1.21 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, PNB Housing Finance gained 10.00 per cent, Oberoi Realty rose 9.77 per cent, Voltas, Vodafone Idea and Prestige Estate also surged, while V-Guard Industries, MRPL and Ajanta Pharma declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, Spandana Sphoor gained 20.00 per cent. On the other hand, Persistent fell 2.63 per cent, Indiamart Intermesh, Can Fin Homes, IRB Infra declined.
Sectoral Indices
In NSE sectoral indices, 15 out of 17 sectors surged. Nifty Realty was the top performer as it gained 3.79 per cent, NSE Media rose 1.64 per cent, followed by Nifty Consumption increased by 1.27 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Auto declined.
