Good News : 104 years old lake resurrected by railway

Bengal Mirror, Railway Correspondent, 5th January, 2021 : A hundred and four years old lake of 1935 million litres capacity, Deveregudial lake in Hubli, which was lying defunct for last ten years, was resurrected on 1st January 2021. This job had been done in leadership of Mr. PK mishra, AGM, SWR.

SWR, AGM, Mr. Mishra said that The work involved repairing of bunds, restoration of pump house, heritage filtering plant, mountain top distribution tank and laying of 12 kms long pipe line.

This was the first major environmental project we had undertaken in SWR.
No sanction was available and had received an estimate of 5.5 crs for restoration.

We were able to get the estimate pruned to 2.2 cr and after addressing series of challenges, work was commissioned, today on 1st January 2021.

This would not have been possible without constant monitoring and guidance by GM SWR Sri A.K.Singh sir.Workshop was constructed at Hubli because enough water was not available at Dharwar, HQ of SMR.
