ER ASANSOL DIVISION PLANS TO SET UP 3 MEGA WATT POWER SOLAR PANELS

A STEP TOWARDS GO-GREEN INITIATIVE OF RAILWAYS

Bengal Mirror, Rail Correspondent, Asansol 13 January, 2021: Environmental pollution owing to carbon emission is a serious concern at present. To reduce such emission, thinking of alternative sources of energy has come into existence. Like other sectors, Railways is also ahead of this and solar power is very much being utilised here to reduce carbon footprints as a step towards maintaining clean environment as well as to save fossil-fuel.

energy requirement is expected to be fulfilled.

 In line with this, ER Asansol Division, under the dynamic leadership of Shri Sumit Sarkar, Divisional Railway Manager, has planned to set up 3 MWp solar panel within its jurisdiction which will not only save environment in a big way but also a large quantity of energy requirement is expected to be fulfilled.  

 For the first phase,1 MWp  solar panels will be  installed at the roof-top of the establishments for which work is on war-footing and expected to be completed within 6 months. The top of the establishments, where solar panels generating a total of 1 MWp are going to be installed for the first phase are:

1. Asansol Divisional Hospital- 136KWp

2. DRM Office, Asansol-239KWp

3. Loco Training Centre & Hostel-139 KWp

4. MEMU Shed, Asansol-533.52 KWp

5. Asansol Station Building -51KWp.

This is a big endeavor of the Division towards fulfillment of go green initiative of Indian Railways.
